Workshop avec

Chloé et Peter

Samedi

13.00 - 15.00: Solo Jazz
This will be a good workout where you will have fun, by learning different rhythms, complicated jazz steps, dance at higher speeds, and really put your body movement to the test. This will improve your Lindy Hop rhythm and your fitness Please wear comfortable shoes, pants, and changes of shirts. (Best to take with Jazz Up your Lindy)

15.30 - 16.30: A Taste of Shorty's Leader Styling (leaders only)
Learn some styles and body shapes that make you look good while dancing, but also lead your follower better! For example, there’s a definite shape to show the difference between a swing out and a lindy circle. Dancing with style influences your movement as well as your follower’s movement, where you and your follower do less work! Learn about how to create body shapes that encourage motion, flow, rhythm, counter-balance, soft-leading, posture improvement, joint health (reducing ailments like shoulder pain & knee pain). Look better, dance better, dance longer.

16.45 - 17.45: Jazz Up Your Lindy Hop (for followers and leaders)
Add different jazz steps to your Lindy Hop - eagle slide, truckin’, london bridge, hallelujah rocks, shim-sham step, over the top, tacky annie's, and other cool steps. Better to take this class together with the Solo jazz class (1-3pm)

18.00 - 19.00: Feeling The Swing, Swing Music & Dance, Some History in Motion
Dancer & DJ Shorty George gives his unique perspective of how he loves to swing, what he listens to, backed up with some knowledge of the expansive history of Swing Music & Dance. Shorty will demonstrate this swing feeling with old films, 1930s music, and his vivid explanation to inspire you to listen & dance differently. Learn about how band battles between Benny Goodman, Chick Webb, Count Basie, and others inspired dancers to really swing out.

19.00 - 21.30: Social Dance

Shorty George (USA)

Shorty George is one crazy dance cactus. When he started dancing in New York City, he forgot that he needed water to survive. While dehydrating himself, he enjoyed making his partner smile, as well as dancers around him. Since 2004, he’s rocked out as a Lindy Hop, Blues, and Balboa dancer. Around the globe from Taiwan, Denmark, Turkey, Iceland, Spain, and other countries, George taught Lindy, Balboa, and Blues Workshops and brought great energy, humor, and entertainment to the classes while teaching some useful techniques to improve people’s dancing, such as musicality, partner connection, feeling, character, and improvisation.
